Wood End Farmhouse Bed and Breakfast
Set in the Forest of Bowland at the heart of Lancashire and England
1 Double en-suite and 1 Twin en-suite.
Our family has lived on this beautiful 17th century farm for over 100 years. Situated in Dunsop Bridge at the heart of the 300 sq.mile Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), the farm is part of the Queen's Duchy of Lancaster Estate. When you visit the Forest of Bowland area, you'll understand why the Queen regards it as one of her favourite places in the country.
Dunsop Bridge has been identified by the Ordnance Survey as being the village closest to the centre of the United Kingdom. The village is only a few minutes walk away.
Our extensive breakfast menu includes dry cured English bacon, local sausages and eggs.
The area is idyllic for walking, cycling, horse riding and birdwatching. The Lake District, Fylde Coast and Yorkshire Dales are all easily accessible for day trips and a spectacular trip on the famous Settle to Carlisle railway is only half an hour away. Clitheroe is the nearest town with its castle and famous sausage shop and wine merchant. Lancaster, Preston, Whalley and Longridge are also within easy reach.
The Forest of Bowland's upland fells, with summits above 450m, are dissected by steep sided valleys which open out into rich green lowlands adjacent to the rivers Hodder and Wyre. This is idyllic countryside for walking, whether alongside the rivers, or to higher ground for a panoramic view. Wherever you travel in the Bowland area you'll be sure to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of this unspoilt area of rural Lancashire.
For cyclists and walkers we have wash down facilities and secure wet weather gear storage and drying area.
Guests are free to enjoy our lovely garden with breathtaking views of the Bowland countryside.
